I tried my hand at baking bread again. Fortunately, it was not a complete dud like my previous attempts have been, but it was still nowhere close to a perfect loaf. Unfortunately, my pizza craving got out of hand. Therefore, I started combing through recipe blogs for a quick fix. Most of the recipes suggested either using a readymade base or baking one using yeast. I am not very fond of the readymade base. I am yet to figure out the exact reason, but the readymade base is usually on the sweeter side, which ends up messing up the taste of otherwise delicious pizza. And baking one using yeast is an ongoing science experiment that I keep on failing.
After looking for a while, I found a 15 minute no yeast pizza recipe. Initially, I thought it was one of those clickbait posts that leave you feeling exasperated for possessing an ounce of hope. I decided to give the link benefit of the doubt and clicked it. The recipe was simple and seemed too good to be true. Additionally, the blog featured delicious-looking pictures of pizza. I decided to give it a try.
The recipe asked to take 2 and 1/2 cups of flour and mix baking powder and salt in it. Add 3/4th cup of water and tablespoon of olive oil and knead it into the dough. Roll it with a rolling pin and then add pizza sauce and toppings of your choice. Bake it for 15 minutes.
I followed the recipe to the last dot, expecting a barely edible but tolerable result. As Thorin exclaimed in the movie The Hobbit – I have never been so wrong in all my life. I was wrong too.
This concoction was not only Instagram worthy but also tasted delicious. I pounced on the pizza like a hungry wolf and ate it all. Thankfully, I remembered to click a couple of decent pictures for this post.
